taken from my friend's journal:

I'm music supervising this low-budget indie film and just made a licensing deal with BMI (publishing company) for a Spanish version of Radiohead's song "Creep". The version we're using is totally badass and is by a local band called Curanderos; their cover of it is entitled "Perro".

The contract is signed by:
GREENWOOD COLIN CHARLES
GREENWOOD JONATHAN RICHARD GUY
O BRIEN EDWARD JOHN
SELWAY PHILIP JAMES
YORKE THOMAS EDWARD

Pelota
Cuando usted estaba aquí antes,
no podía mirarle en el ojo.
Usted es justo como un ángel,
su piel me hace gritar.
Usted flota como una pluma,
en un mundo hermoso
Lamento que yo no fuera especial,
usted tan jode especial.

Pero soy un pelota, soy un bicho raro.
¿Qué demonios hago aquí?
No pertenezco aquí.

No me preocupo si esto duele,
Quiero tener el control.
Quiero un cuerpo perfecto,
Quiero un alma perfecta.
Quiero que usted note,
cuando no estoy alrededor.
Usted tan jode especial,
Lamento que yo no fuera especial.

Pero soy un pelota, soy un bicho raro.
¿Qué demonios hago aquí?.
No pertenezco aquí

Ella se agota la puerta,
ella corre,
ella corrió, controlado, controlado, controlado, controlado.

Independientemente de le hace feliz,
independientemente de usted quiere.
Usted tan jode especial,
Lamento que yo no fuera especial,

pero soy un pelota, soy un bicho raro.
¿Qué demonios hago aquí?
No pertenezco aquí,
No pertenezco aquí.

oh shit...it's started!! soon we'll see salsa bands playing radiohead songs around piñatas. then it won't be too long till we hear the reggaeton rendition of Kid A.

"un pelota"?? that means idiot in argentinian, not creep. I don't think we actually have a word for creep. "bicho raro" would be as close as it gets.

personally, i'd like to hear a mariachi arrangement of the Smiths' "Ask". if you listen closely, the bassline is very similar to what you'd hear in most mariachi pieces.

there have been many 'rock en español' covers of Smiths and Cure songs. that's sort of a given since those two particular bands garnered huge followings down south. i've got cousins in mexico city who dig the red hot chili peppers and jane's addiction, which is kinda cool. it at least keeps them away from crap mexican top 40 pop. unless it's juanes. i like juanes.

There are 2 ways to say the verb "to be" in Spanish......

There's "estar" which is more of a temporary state of being, and there's "ser" which is more of a permanent state of being....

The question is this: Will he be a creep forever? blink.gif
